This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Announcement Bar collects, uses, and protects merchant and storefront information when the app is installed on a Shopify store.
1. Overview
Smart Announcement Bar provides merchants with announcement bar experiences such as sticky, marquee, rotating, and carousel-style storefront messaging. This policy describes the categories of data the app may process to provide those services.
3. Storefront Event Data
When analytics features are enabled, the app may process event data related to announcement impressions, clicks, page paths, product context, and device or referral metadata needed for aggregate reporting.
4. How We Use Information
We use merchant and storefront information to provide the app, render announcement bar experiences, maintain product settings, troubleshoot service issues, improve performance, and support merchants using the app.
5. Shopify Access and App Proxy Requests
Smart Announcement Bar is built as an embedded Shopify app with a theme app extension. Storefront requests may also be routed through an app proxy when needed for analytics ingestion or future public-facing endpoints.
The app is designed to use Shopify's GraphQL Admin API rather than the REST Admin API for app-managed admin operations.
6. GDPR and Data Rights
The app includes webhook handling for Shopify privacy events, including customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact. Requests received through Shopify's compliance flow are handled in accordance with applicable legal obligations.
7. Retention and Security
We retain app data only as long as necessary to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. App uninstall and redaction flows are designed to support deletion of applicable store data from our systems.
